DofE Gold open expedition assessment in Morocco 2015!

Hello everyone!
We all chose to complete our Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award expedition in the picturesque Atlas mountain range in Morocco. In summary it was an experience like no other!
We've selected this expedition for various reasons. Since this was our final DofE expedition, we wanted to challenge ourselves. The atmosphere was unparallel to our previous hikes that we were used to. We embraced the cuisine and climate with open arms during our first acclimatization day a reflective necessity for the next 4 days of strenuous hiking.
Overall, the Moroccan journey provided us with a genuine and inspiring trek that none of us will ever forget; from the 3000m+ tall mountains to meeting the local Berbers and experiencing their daily lives, our surreal expedition was truly a once in a lifetime experience.
Top 5 tips:
- Train for the hike; go for long walks and get used to the weight of the backpack.
- Don't overload your backpack; carry essentials!
- Collaborate with your team beforehand; so you cn share and distribute what everyone in the group needs.
- Be prepared for trekking in the heat.
- A good aim will automaticlly better your overall experience.
